An emergency room physician told me that a woman in her late 20's came into the ER today with her 8th pregnancy. She told the first doctor she saw: "My Mama told me that I am the 'breadwinner' for the family." He asked her to explain. She said that she can make babies and babies 'get money' from the State for the family.
It goes like this: The Grandma calls the Department of Child & Family Services, and says that the 'unemployed' daughter is not capable of caring for all of her kids. DCFS agrees, and tells her the children will need to go into foster care.
The Grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and receives a check for $1500 per child each month in Illinois. Total yearly income: $144,000 tax-free and nobody has to go to work! In fact, they get more, if there is no husband/father/man in the home! Not to mention free healthcare (Medicaid), plus a monthly card entitling them to free groceries and a voucher for 250 free 'Obamaphone' minutes each month. This does not include WIC and other welfare benefits...that they are "entitled" to. Indeed, Grandma was correct that her fertile daughter is the "breadwinner" for the family. The chance that children in this situation will choose the same 'lifestyle' is great, as there is no strong roll model to set a better example, thus creating 'generational government dependance'.
This is how the liberal/progessive politicians spend our tax dollars. When this overly-generous program was invented in the '60s, the 'Great Society architects' forgot to craft an 'end date'... and now, we are 'hopelessly' overrun with people who vote only for those who will continue to keep them on the dole.... No wonder our country is broke!
Worse, the Muslims have been paying attention and by mandating that each Muslim family have eleven children, they will soon replace the voting bloc above and can be running this country within 25 years.
Add to this the illegal Mexican influx with their large families and anchor babies. Get the picture? The weighing down, take down, browning of, anti-Christ, immoral, government dependent and destruction of America... While they shame, 'guilt out', use 'politically correct' BS on White, Christians, Jewish, and any others of European desent, those who believe in the constitution, to shut up and take it. That 'we should adapt' to these people, instead of, them adapting to American ways and paying their own way...
Is this sinking in? Ask yourself, if your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will survive these changes to America! The White, European, Christian lineage will become the minority and eventually done away with. Most of the educated, working white families have 'two' children. They realize how much it cost to rear and to educate a child and are not dependent on the government. Most pay for it themselves and do not depend on the government. Alarmed yet?
No wonder certain Blacks, Muslims, certain Mexicans, and others who live off of, or 'want' to live off the government are voting for the liberal, progessive agenda and loooove their Obama...and their OOOObama money. HA! Perhaps, what they are forgetting about is that doing this makes them slaves to the government... and what the government can give, it can take away...
The 'ruling elite whites' want to create a 'slave work force of brown folk', while eradicating the whites who are not of the elite. Get it yet?...
So, don't forget to pay your taxes! There are a lot of "breadwinners" who are depending on 'you'. Along with the Liberal, Progressive politicians who want to be kept in office with their salaries, benefits and lifetime pensions by these Obama lovers and voters.
These are the people who put a man like Obama where he is and these are the people and politicians who are destroying America.

What is really sad is that these children grow up and do the same thing generation after generation. They have no model for for a family life. I have seen examples of this in the local stores where the girl is very young and the mother is behind her and they have four or five kids and the girl looks like she's 19. Then the daughter makes a statement that they are all her children. You could have picked me up off the floor. And you're right they were paying with food stamps and their card and every thing else that was free. Total system breakdown.

Please listen. I know many of you will not care to hear this, because so many wish to believe that what you hear on Rush Limbaugh's show is true and a lot of us really want to believe the worst of people. My husband was a fan of Limbaugh for years, despite the fact that I told him, more than once, that what I was hearing on Limbaugh's show was often inaccurate, sometimes blatantly exaggerated, and at times just boldfaced lies. It wasn't until this broadcast, the one quoted from here, that my husband finally understood.
My husband and I have been foster parents here in Illinois for many years. We've loved and cared for fourteen children, never more than three at a time. Three of those fourteen children were special needs children, which was challenging and difficult, but rewarding, too. At monthly support group meetings, foster parents laugh often and become enraged often about the misconception by the public of that some people foster "for the money." It's just so untrue, and this is why:
The state of Illinois has one of the lowest foster care maintenance rates in the country, although none of the states offer what it actually takes to raise a child. You're welcome to check my facts by reading here:

Foster parents are given the above link and large stacks of documents to look over before applying to become foster parents. The rate per child of foster care maintenance payments in Illinois have not changed since 2008, despite the rise in inflation. It is $361 per month, regardless of who lives in the home. That's quite a far cry from $1500. It is called foster care maintenance payments for a reason. At the end of each three month period, you must submit receipts to prove that every penny of the money was spent on the child. It cannot be used for rent, utilities, or any household expenses that you would have incurred had you not become a foster parent. Every penny of the money is to be spent on the child. I am sure that there are those who cheat their way around this, but it is still not $1500 per month and not much to meet a child’s needs.

The only increase in this occurs if the child has special needs, in which case you can be reimbursed for a portion of the expenses you incurred in meeting that child's medical needs, out of your own pocket, and only if the expenses plus care are larger than the $361 you receive, and the reimbursement will not cover more than an extra $300 per month. Just one of the special needs children I cared for required medications that his medical card did not cover, and one of those medicines was over $600 for a month's supply. He also required a weekly home health care nurse, a wheelchair, a vehicle that would accommodate the wheelchair, a hospital bed, and many, many other necessities. Regardless of what my husband and I spent, we received no more reimbursement than $300. Please don't misunderstand me. I loved that little boy and did not mind spending the money since I had it to spend and enjoyed caring for that precious little guy, but I do wonder how foster parents who cannot afford these expenses could ever manage it.
When you apply to become a foster parent, you must prove that you can physically and financially care for the children you may be asked to foster. Your home is inspected to ensure that you have adequate room to accommodate the number of children that you believe you can foster, and your home must be clean, well-maintained, and safe. Unless you have a very large home and an income that would support eight children (and that income cannot include the foster care maintenance payments), I cannot imagine any person being granted eight foster children. I am a nurse practioner and my husband a legal consultant, and even with our income, we qualify for only up to four foster children at a time.

I could go on and on about how completely inaccurate and crazy the statements made on Limbaugh’s show were in this broadcast, especially considering the fact that this woman in her 20s was still living at home, claimed she did not have enough household income to care for these children, and yet the children were placed back in the same household in foster care because another household member was considered to be the one “in charge” although the income was the still the same in that household, which just doesn’t work out…but the most inflammatory information is definitely the “Fostering for the Money” myth. Only 11% of foster children receive kinship placement, and that is usually because so many grandparents, aunts, and uncles do not want children removed from their families completely. Many of them, as well as the 89% of us who foster children who are not related to us, are vilified in these statements. The reason that so many of us scoff at that “fostering for the money” myth is that it is a mathematical impossibility. You will inevitably spend more to raise a child than the foster care maintenance payments will give you. That’s the truth.

As for Rush Limbaugh and his show, my husband doesn’t listen to it anymore. He was appalled by how factually inaccurate and ridiculously vilifying that broadcast was. At the support group meetings, we talked to many other foster parents from the state of Illinois who said that they would no longer listen to the show because of that broadcast, or had simply heard about the broadcast and were taking action to remove sponsorship from the show as a result. No matter what type of media information comes from, a person should always, always check facts instead of accepting them blindly. Liberal or conservative media persons can have anyone come on their show and say things, even boldfaced lies, and not be held liable. “I didn’t say it, it was my ‘source.’” That’s how tabloid media outlets can report the ridiculous things that they do. So Limbaugh can’t be held liable, and the person who said these things on Limbaugh’s show should be discredited as any type of expert because he did not check facts, and if any ER doctor actually said these things, he or she should have their medical license revoked for violating doctor/patient confidentiality. In nursing school, a fellow student wrote an article for our school newspaper about working in a delivery room for the first time. She gave no names or identifying details, but simply wrote about the experience of delivering a newborn baby, and she was kicked out of school. Health care professionals sign confidentiality clauses for a reason, and you don’t discuss anything about any patient, even if you don’t give names. Please, to the lady who writes this blog, delete this. It’s wrong. I know you probably didn’t intend to spread misinformation or inaccuracy, but that is exactly what’s being done here, and your blog followers comment that they are now disseminating this information to others. Please, check the facts so that you will see that I am right, and then delete this.
I apologize for the length of this response, but it is something I feel very, very strongly about. It's horrible to open your home and your heart to children who need you, and be rewarded by hearing people scoff at you because foster parents only "do it for the money."

This is exactly the type of misinformed view that I'm talking about. I don't lean on the government. I have a full-time (often more than full-time)job and pay all my own expenses since foster care maintenance payments are not to be used for these children's care, plus much, much more in order to provide care for these children. I don't have children of my own, so my motivation in becoming a foster parent was to care for the children most in need of help. I am lucky that I do not have to rely on those $361 payments, but many people would open their homes to foster children if they could afford to do so. Do you have any idea how many children there are in the foster care system awaiting placement? I can promise you that there are more of these children than there are people willing to foster, and so many are reluctant because they cannot afford it. We should be working to expand this program, not reduce it. There are just entirely too many children in need. So many of them are removed from their homes due to severe physical, mental, or sexual abuse, neglect and starvation, and horrors you can't even imagine until you see it for yourself. I'm not here to argue with anyone. I hope that instead of dismissing my argument out of hand, you'll check these facts and find enough empathy in your heart to understand the realities of fostering children.

Okay, Connie. I'll agree that it is a bad choice to have a child if you can't care for him or her. But the result of that bad decision is a child, a human being, a baby who deserves to have his or her needs met. What is to be done with these children? Should they suffer and starve? Should they be left in horribly abusive homes to die? Once these children enter the world, they are everyone's concern (I won't use the word "problem" to describe a child). I'm sorry, but it seems to me to be a complete lack of empathy fueling this discussion. Can we honestly just say, "Oh, well, some idiot chose to have a kid that she (and he, the father) can't care for. Screw 'em. Let 'em starve because I don't want to pay taxes"?

People should not bring kids into the world that they can't care for and then leave them to others to care for and pay for. It's wrong. There will always be mistakes and people who need assistance. Actually John, welfare reform is credited to Newt Gingrich. President Clinton only signed the bill, after turning down the previous two that were presented. Also, Clinton did not leave office with a surplus...that is a complete myth. I will only credit Clinton for his center approach, but quite a bit had to be given up by the Republicans in order for Clinton to claim credit for anything.

I think that DNA tests should link the father to the child and the authorities should force him to pay child support and make him a part of that child's life until 18! Whether the mother wants him or not!! That'll put a serious deterrent to people playing around.
